6 How to Draw Animals

Children work from models and/or projected images. They learn how to break down complex shapes into simple forms, and begin to get some understandings of anatomy. Children use sketching pencils, think about surface textures and to look for, and portray rich shadows.

“Clear, easy steps for children to follow – made them feel successful. Concepts and method will be easily applied to other animals, figures, etc. Shape, proportion, line and shade were integrated well.” (Y3-4) Amy Lee, Huapai District School.

“Excellent organisation, clear instructions, ensuring all children achieved success. Excellent follow up unit for teachers” (Y5-6) Di Scott, D.P. Hampden St School, Nelson.
